慶應義塾大学冨田研究室にて進められている汎用細胞シミュレーションプロジェクトである E-Cell プロジェクトにて，シミュレーションソフトウェアおよび関連技術の開発を行います。開放的な場所でのびのびと仕事をしつつ，第一線で活躍する多くの研究者に刺激を受けながら，さまざまな分野の知識を吸収することができる，理想的な作業環境です。
E-Cell プロジェクトとは
E-Cell プロジェクトは，冨田研究室において，1996 年，Mycoplasma genitalium と呼ばれる小さなバクテリアを研究する過程で， そのバクテリアの生命活動をコンピュータ・プログラム上 (in silico) で再現するという試みからスタートし， 以来 10 年で，米国 Molecular Sciences Institute や独立行政法人理化学研究所も参画する国際プロジェクトへと発展を遂げました。単一のモデルに 複数の時間スケールと複数のアルゴリズムが共存するシミュレーションの実行を可能にした，画期的な E-Cell 3 のリリース以降，現在では， 生化学的なシミュレーションの限界を打ち破るべく，E-Cell 4 の開発を進めるとともに，GUI による統合シミュレーション環境である E-Cell IDE の開発を進めています。

- TOEIC730点相当の英語力
- 情報系学科の修士，もしくは同等の計算機科学に関する知識
- C++，Python，C#の十分なプログラミング知識
- オープンソースソフトウェアに関する造詣

Scientific Programmer Position
The E-Cell Project (http://www.e-cell.org) is one of the leading scientific initiatives in computational systems and cell biology, with a clear focus on state-of-the-art methods for modeling, simulation, and analysis of biological phenomena at the molecular level. Some of the core activities of the project include development of the software platform, called E-Cell System (http://ecell.sf.net), simulation algorithms, modeling theories, mathematical analysis techniques, and integration with analytical methods including metabolomics and proteomics.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Open Source-minded individual who is eager to get his/her scientific and software proficiency into full play.
Responsibilities
Your principal role will be to design, develop and maintenance E-Cell System, the simulator, and related softwares. You will be also responsible to optimize the projects greater reach by bridging the internal development of the project with the contributions from a community of users and volunteer developers spread throughout the world.
Qualifications
- Candidates must reside in the tokyo metropolitan area.
- Skills of C++, C# or Python programming are a strong plus.
- Good knowledge of biology is also a plus.
