Summary
I am a Team Leader (Principal Investigator) of the Laboratory for Biochemical Simulation at RIKEN, Japan. My research interests span a broad range of technological areas relevant to cell modeling and simulation, and include effects of non-idealistic nature of intracellular media on signaling pathways, single cell measurement techniques such as correlation spectroscopy, asynchronous discrete event simulation algorithms, and high-performance computing. From 2005 to 2008, I was a Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) Cross-Disciplinary Fellow at the Molecular Sciences Institute, Berkeley, California. I am a founding steering committee member of the E-Cell Project, and am the creator / chief system architect of the E-Cell System.
Roles in The E-Cell Project
- I am a Founding Steering Committee Member of the E-Cell Project.
- I am also the Creator / Chief System Architect of the E-Cell System.
More on My Research Interests
- This paper describes some motivating questions and possible approaches with regard to my current projects. If you feel more comfortable reading in Japanese, here is some article (a bit old but essentially up to date).
- There is a conference paper that briefly mentions what I believe are the challenges that the E-Cell Project and computational cell biology at large will face in relatively near future, and what I believe are the directions we should explore.
